The Joys of Motherhood

I can not get enough of this little girl. Everything she does is so unbelievably adorable. And even the unglamourous things seem to be comical at times. This morning, all she wanted to do was to blow bubbles at me. Over and over again she would laugh and drool and make bubbles. Then the last couple of times I have attempted to go somewhere, I buckle Addison into her seat, load everything up, get into the driver's seat, turn the car on and then I hear "it". Its time for a diaper change and we haven't even left the house yet. So out of the seat, change her diaper, back into the seat and then away we go. Today it took me 3 hours to go 2 places. 20 minutes of that time was sitting in the car nursing before we could go into Costco. Then there is the spit up all day long, all over her, all over me, in my hair, on my shirt, doesn't matter where. The true glamor of being a mom. All I can do is laugh.

Addison has also decided that the world is way too interesting to sleep, and has a very difficult time taking a nap during the day, which of course leaves a tired and cranky baby in the evening time. And no matter how exhausted I feel (as in now because I was up with little missy last night at 2 am) I don't think I would give anything up for all the moments that I get to be with her and see her explore the world. It is absolutely amazing to watch her look at things. For example, tonight she was interesting in the features on my face. She first tried grabbing at my mouth and then my nose and finally my eye, which was very fun. She also watches her own hands move as if they were not attached to her body. When she does something so cute and adorable, I am always wishing there was someone here to share in that joy and see that experience she has. Babies are just simply amazing and I feel totally blessed to have Addison and be able to experience it all along with her!

Day out with Grandma

Sunday, Addison and I spent the day with grandma going to listen to Brooke Ramel sing at Bella Terra in Huntington Beach. It was a fun time as usual with grandma and what a beautiful day it was being outside. Someone even came up to us and said that she
should be in Baby Gap ads. I agree, its gotta be the hat and by the way her hat is from Baby Gap. :)

The bathing beauty

We had some fun the other night and dressed Addison up in her bikini. She was having so much fun showing off and being a little bathing beauty. She is already practicing being a heart breaker.

Updates!

Addison has now slept in her own room in her crib the last 3 nights. The first night was a little rough and we were up a few times. It is not as easy when she is not right next to me to just give her the pacifier. She has also mastered turning over from her back to her tummy, but can't quite figure out how to get back over. When she does this, she wakes herself up and it all goes downhill from there. She seems to sleep best when being held, oh big surprise. Addison is also more curious and curious each day. She is so interested in what is going on around her. She has also started grabbing at everything, including my hair and she even tried to grab K's toothbrush this morning. I can't believe how much personality she has for only being 3 months old.

Time has sure flown by and I can't believe that we are already almost half through September. I am now looking at going back to work in October. I miss my job, but at the same time don't want to leave her. I am still trying to figure out the logistics of childcare. If I can work on the days that K is home, or when my mom is home in the afternoons I think things will work out well. The unexpected events that may come up at work are what concern me. I might be looking for someone to watch her on an as needed basis. If anyone knows of anyone, please let me know. I am sure that we will figure something out.

I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend and staying cool!

Addison's First Luau

Addison attended her first Luau at the Smith's Family Luau on the Wialua River. She was all dressed in her Hawaiian attire and enjoyed all the yummy food and entertainment. This was Addison's inspiration to now do the Hula, which she loves to do with a little help from mom or dad.

The beauty of the Island

During the trip to Kauai, we visited Wiamaha Canyon. It is known as the Grand Canyon of the islands and is absolutely beautiful. This was the day that Addison decided she no longer liked her car seat and from that point on, cried every time she was put in it. Lucky for mom and grandma Mimi we got to sit in the backseat and try to entertain her. Here we are enjoying all the beautiful sights.

Pool Time in Kauai

Addison swam in the pool in Kauai. She loved floating through the water with both mommy and daddy. She can't wait to return again and swim again on her own.

Kauai!

Well we are back from a week in Kauai. Addison had her first airplane ride and did fantastic. She slept for most of the flight and played for the remaining. The big highlight for the trip was the first day we were there, Addison decided she was going to roll over, and rolling she did over and over again. The minute we would set her down on the bed or floor she would roll her self over to her stomach. She then would cry and we would start all over again. She has now become more tolerant of being on her tummy and now tries to scoot her way along. She does pretty well actually and I am sure will be crawling sooner than we would like. She is also our sucking and drooling queen. Continuously she has her hands and anything else she can in her mouth. This is probably the early events of teething.
Stay tuned for more pictures and tales from Kauai coming soon!

Doctor visit

Addison visited the pediatrician today for her well baby check. She is now 12 weeks old and weighs 11.8lbs and is 24 inches long. She did very well and thought it was fun to lie on the table and wait for the doctor. She had to have some shots which was not the highlight of the visit and broke my heart. Tonight she is a mommy's girl and just wants to be held. I can't say no to that. :)

Addison's first visit to the fire station

Addison took her first visit to her daddy's fire station today. When we arrived K was out on a call, so we chatted with some of the other guys and Addison took it all in and then started talking too. It was really cute. K finally arrived and gave us a tour of the station, Addison even got to sit on the engine. All the excitement soon wore her out and she fell asleep. She is very proud of her daddy and can't wait to visit again soon!

My growing little girl

Looking back over the last 3 months, I can't believe how much my little girl has changed and grown up already. Each day I feel more and more blessed to have her in my life.

Back to bootcamp

So I started boot camp this week and am now realizing exactly what pregnancy does to your body. Its been 2 days and I am sore already, but it is a good sore. My mom has been wonderful enough to come and watch the little one so I can take this time for myself. Sunday night she spent the night so I could go to the 5:30am class. Addison has been sleeping till about 7/7:30, so I thought she would probably just sleep, I would get up and pump to relieve myself and have something for her just in case. Well it didn't happen so smoothly. I was up at 4:30 and Addison was too shortly after. So i fed her and pumped at the same time, while I am feeding her, she had a poopy diaper and it went on from there. Everything worked out well and I made it on time, but made a comical morning out of it. This morning went a little a smoother, except she was up at 5:30 when K left and I didn't go to class till 9. Gotta love motherhood! It feels good to be back to pushing myself to limits.

Girl's Day Out

Addison and I spent a wonderful day on Sunday with Auntie Jenny. We went and got pedicures and then went to lunch at Bella Terra and listened to the music of Brooke Ramel. It was a fantastic girls day out!

Beach and More

This past week has seemed to have flown by now that it is over. K has been working a lot, so that leaves Addison and I to play everyday. She is growing and growing more and more each day and loves to make blowing noises with her mouth. Last week we went to the beach with the Lindholm crew. Addison had a blast and slept for part of it in her little sun tent. One day we spent the day in Camarillo at the outlets with grandma, where Addison did very well shopping. I am starting her early, so she will be mommy's little shopper. Above are some pictures from the beach. Addison also enjoyed a visit from cousins Bob and Linda from Montana and looks forward to visiting them soon.
